The Youth Brass Orchestra Príbor was set up in the school year 1973/1974 by Ludvik Demel, a music editor in The Czech Radio Ostrava and a teacher at The Music School Príbor. Ludvik Demel was the conductor of the orchestra from the beginnig to 1995. The orchestra is managed by The Music School Príbor and The Company of The Youth Brass Orchestra Príbor. Members of the orchestra are from 10 lo 25 years old. The orchestra ranks among the best youth brass orchestras in The Czech Republic and it performs about 20 appearances a year inland and also in foreign countries (e.g. Poland, Hungary. Germany, Holland). It periodically takes part in festivals and competitions and it is usually among the best orchestras. At The 4th International Festival of Youth Brass Orchestras in Kehl (Germany) -1983 and at The Purmerade international festival in Purmerend(Holland) -1986 the orchestra won 1st place, at The 5th International Festival of Youth Brass Orchestras in Karlsruhe (Germany) -1987 it won 1st place with distinction too. The concert in Paris (under the Eiffel Tower) in 1987 became the unforgettable experiance for us. From the inland successess we remind the 1st place in The Republic Competition in Úpice in 1989 and at the same competition the 1st place with the title of the absolute winner in 1995 in Kolín.
In 1996 Ivo Lacný. the headmaster of our music school, became the conductor of the orchestra. The orchestra took part in festivals and competitions in Germany (Bosel -1997, Stadthagen - 2000). Holland (Emen -1999, Purmerend - 2002), Poland (Lubartow -1998, -, Rybnik -1999), Hungary (Szekesfehervdr -1996, 2000, Siklos - 2001) and it always has been wining the 1st places or the gold zone. The orchestra also repeated the 1st place in The Republic Competition (1998, 2001). In 2001 it took part in the internetional competition Ostrava 2001 and it won the gold zone in the highest category. At the same year it took part in the competition of The Czech Radio Vltava Concerto Bohemia, it won the 1st place in its category and then it had to opportunity to play the concert of the winners in The Spanish Hall at The Prague Castle.
The 22th November 2008 the orchestra celebrated the 35th anniversary of its foundation.
