City Winds 2019 – an orchestra playing for friendship at Mid EUROPE

Thursday, 07.02.2019

The anniversary of the partnership with twin town Wetzlar motivated the creation of an orchestral collaboration known as the “City Winds”. Isabell Kurz and Nicolas Grebe from the town of Wetzlar are responsible for this project. Musicians from Wetzlar’s twin will be part of the wind orchestra at Mid EUROPE 2019 in Schladming.

The musicians will rehearse a concert program with symphonic wind music for a week with professional conductor Dominik M. Koch. The result of this workshop will then be presented to the public during a concert at the Mid EUROPE festival. As a guest conductor Steven Bryant (North Carolina, USA) will rehearse one of his own pieces with the orchestra and conduct it himself.

The project is intended to give ambitious musicians the opportunity for a cross-orchestral and inter-city exchange. The experience and the fun of playing music together in an orchestra with musicians from other nations is an unforgettable experience. More than sixty musicians have registered for the “City Winds“ project, while the community Deutsch-Österreichische Gesellschaft Wetzlar e.V will also support the orchestra project with 50 music fans from Wetzlar traveling to Schladming.
