Aomori Prefecture Selected High School Band

Aomori Prefecture High School Band was organized in 1988 to celebrate the establishment of Cultural Club-activities Association of All Japan High School.

And for these 30 years, we have had several concerts, repeating band-clinic seminars and practice camps. As guest conductors, we have invited outstanding conductors such as Mr. Roger Boutry, Mr. Toshio Akiyama, Mr. Eiichi Tohyama, Mr. Yasuhiko Shiozawa, Ms. Yuri Nitta and Mr. Tohru Hora.

In August of 1995, we carried out the first overseas concert tour. We gave successful concerts in American cities, like New York, Orlando etc.

Since then, we have had following concerts abroad.

1997: World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) in Schladming, Austria, and World youth music festival in Vienna, where we won the first prize in the category of "the Band".

1999: International Alpine Music Festival held in Saas-Fee in Switzerland, and International Band Competition, "G.Verdi-Salsomaggiore Terme". In this competition, we participated in the Category of Arrangements from, classical music-Excellence, and won the first prize as well as "G.Verdi-Salsomaggiore Terme" Prize, which was given to the band that got the highest score in all categories.

2001: WASBE conference in Lucerne, Switzerland, and World Music Contest held in Kerkrade, Netherlands. And in this competition, we won the first prize in the second division.

2003 – 2009: We had been planning another tours, but unfortunately, we were obliged to cancel it because of the Iraq War etc.

2010: Internationales Blasmusikfestival held at Schladming, Austria.

2013: Jungfrau Music Festival held in Interlaken, Switzerland and the World Music Contest(WMC) held in Kerkrade, Netherlands. The jury at the WMC described our performance as very good. In addition, we gave an open-air concert and a charity concert for a cultural exchange.

2016: International Wind Band Contest “ City of Valencia” held at Valencia, Spain. In this competition, we won the first prize in Division Ⅲ. In addition, we had a cultural exchange concert with the youth band of UNION MUSICAL DE LLIRIA.

Aomori Prefecture Selected High School Band Nobumitsu Takahashi

Dirigent: Mr. Nobumitsu Takahashi

Mr. Takahashi is from Hirosaki city in Aomori prefecture.
He graduated from Music Department of the Faculty of Education at Hirosaki University.
He studied composition under Kazuo Shima.

He participated in overseas expeditions to Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Spain as part of the Aomori Prefecture Selected High School Band.
He is currently a teacher of Hirosaki Vocational High School.
Vice manager of Wind Orchestra Division of Aomori Prefecture Senior High School Cultural Federation.
Vice Deputy Chairman of Aomori Prefecture Hirosaki Regional Band Association.
A member of Japanese Band Directors Association.

Aomori Prefecture Selected High School Band Taro Takahashi

Dirigent: Taro Takahashi

Mr.Takahashi is from Oma city in Aomori prefecture.
He graduated from Aomori University.
He studied musicology under Kotai Yo. He studied percussion under Keichi Kitano.
He participated in overseas expeditions to the U.S., Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and Spain as part of the Aomori Prefecture Selected High School Band.
He is currently an adviser of Wind Orchestra club of Aomori Yamada Junior and Senior High School.
