MID EUROPE Ensemble Participation Guidelines & Benefits

To ensure a meaningful and engaging festival experience for all participants, each ensemble is expected to:

Participate in the festival for a minimum of three days, either Tuesday–Thursday or Thursday–Saturday.
Perform in one mass ensemble performance, either as part of the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday or the Closing Ceremony on Saturday. Please coordinate your arrival and departure plans with our team accordingly.
Participate in two additional festival performances beyond the mass ensemble appearance. Performance opportunities may include:

Indoor concerts at the congress
Concerts in local churches
Outdoor performances
Marching event
Participate as the workshop ensemble for the conducting masterclass
Competitions or other festival activities

Attend at least one indoor concert (excluding the Opening and Closing Ceremonies) featuring another participating ensemble. Supporting fellow musicians and fostering cultural exchange are central to the Mid Europe experience. Please select one concert your ensemble will attend as a group and inform our team of your choice.

Performance opportunities and preferences will be coordinated in consultation with each ensemble, taking into account ensemble size, repertoire, performance level, and artistic goals. Mid Europe is more than a festival—it is an opportunity to connect with musicians from around the world through shared performances, concerts, and cultural exchange. The three-day participation format is designed to allow ensembles to fully experience both the artistic and cultural aspects of Mid Europe. Alongside your performances, you will have time to explore Schladming and the surrounding Dachstein region. Enjoy activities such as mountain go-karting, riding the scenic Planai gondola, or visiting the famous Dachstein ice caves or the ice palace. We encourage ensembles to stay, explore, and fully engage in everything the festival and region have to offer.
