Bläserphilharmonie Forchheim

The Bläserphilharmonie Forchheim currently has around 65 musicians between the ages of 16 and 60, with an average age of around 26. The orchestra has been under the direction of Mathias Wehr since 2012. The musical focus is on the performance of symphonic wind music in its most beautiful facets: from original compositions by important contemporary composers to demanding transcriptions of classical and modern literature. In addition, works with outstanding soloists are also performed time and again.

In addition, the orchestra is also keen to present other styles of wind music to its audience. This versatility is demonstrated time and again at New Year, spring, humoresque, church and open-air concerts.

The Bläserphilharmonie Forchheim regularly participates in competitions. Thus, the orchestra achieved a 2nd place in the Categoria Superiore at the international orchestra competition Flicorno d' Oro 2016 in Riva del Garda, furthermore, it won the orchestra competition of the Nordbayerischer Musikbund in the summer of 2018 and was most recently able to achieve a remarkable fourth place at the German Music Festival 2019 in Osnabrück.
