CUHK-Shenzhen Caitian School Wind Orchestra
The CUHK-Shenzhen Caitian School Wind Orchestra was established in October 2018. Guided by its mission to "spread culture through music and bring more children into the world of music," the orchestra aims to elevate students' musical literacy and enrich campus cultural life through wind instrument education. With the school’s consistent support and guidance, the orchestra regularly rehearses and performs, offering both opportunities for the school community to appreciate high-quality music and a platform for students to showcase their talents.
The orchestra currently comprises over 120 members, divided into the Primary School Division Wind Orchestra and the Junior High School Division Wind Orchestra. Since its inception, the orchestra has actively participated in various performances and competitions, achieving outstanding results. Notable accolades include:
- First Prize in the 2019 Futian District Primary School Band Video Competition
- First Prize in the Wind Music Category at the 13th Futian District Primary School Orchestra Exhibition (2020)
- Second Prize in the Instrumental Music Category at the 2023 Shenzhen Futian District Primary School Arts Exhibition
- Silver Award at the 24th Central European International Wind Music Festival Competition in Austria (July 2023), invited by the Sino-European International Wind Orchestra
- First Prize (Primary School Division) and Second Prize (Middle School Division) at the 2024 National Youth Music Literacy Competition Finals (August 2024)
Through continuous dedication and growth, the CUHK-Shenzhen Caitian School Wind Orchestra has evolved into a high-caliber youth ensemble, earning acclaim from students, faculty, and parents alike. Moving forward, the orchestra remains committed to advancing campus culture and fostering students’ artistic development.

Conductor: Huang Qiang
Huang Qiang was born in 1961 and graduated from the Composition Department of Shenyang Conservatory of Music. From 1976 to 1979, he served as the Director of the Hegang City Song and Dance Troupe in Heilongjiang Province and later as a clarinet player in the Hegang City Cultural Troupe. Since 1984, he has served as the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Hegang City Song and Dance Troupe in Heilongjiang Province. In 2002, he became the Artistic Director of Duolaimi Culture Communication Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen. Since 2009, he has been the Music Director of the Shenzhen Huasheng Symphony Orchestra. Starting in 2012, he has served as the Artistic Director of multiple school wind bands in Shenzhen, including the Meiyuan Elementary School Band and the Jingtian Elementary School Band in Futian District, and the Yucai Second Elementary School Band in Nanshan District. Since 2018, he has been the Music Director of the Caitian School Wind Band of Futian District, Shenzhen.
With his artistic accomplishments, Huang Qiang has won numerous awards during his years as a music conductor.
In 2008, he won the "Excellent Performance Conductor Award" at the First National Inter-School Wind Band Festival and the Tenth Shenzhen Inter-School Wind Band Festival.
In 2012, he led the Guanlan Middle School Wind Band to win the Gold Award in the Shenzhen Inter-School Wind Band Festival and the Art Exhibition for Primary and Secondary School Students.
In 2013, he led the Meiyuan Elementary School Wind Band to win the Silver Award in the Shenzhen Inter-School Wind Band Festival and the Gold Award in the Futian District Instrumental Music Competition. He also led the Kengzi Central Elementary School Wind Band to win the Gold Award in the Shenzhen Inter-School Wind Band Festival. In 2014, he led the newly formed bands of Huafu Elementary School and Jingxiu Elementary School to win the Second Prize in the Futian District Instrumental Music Competition.
In 2015, he led the Huafu and Jingxiu Elementary School Wind Bands to win the First Prize in the Futian District Instrumental Music Competition.
In 2016, he led the Huafu Elementary School Wind Band to win the Outstanding Team Award in the National Wind Band Exhibition of "Shanghai Spring".
In December 2017, he led the Fuhua Elementary School Wind Band to win the First Prize in the Eighth Futian District Instrumental Music Competition.
In 2019, he led the Caitian School Wind Band to win the First Prize in the Futian District "Twelfth Elementary School Level Video Competition".
In 2020, he led the Caitian School Wind Band to win the First Prize in the "Thirteenth Elementary School Level Band Exhibition" in Futian District.
