Kybartai Small Orchestra

In the small Lithuanian border town of Kybartai, for 63 years, we have been attending rehearsals from a young age. Although most of us have chosen professions not related to music, we now admit that the period of childhood when the orchestra and the music of brass and wind instruments
occupied a large part of our lives is deeply etched in the hearts and consciousness of each musician. All of us feel nostalgia for orchestral music. Thanks to the enthusiasm of Kybartai orchestra members living in the capital, Vilnius, this small collective has already celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Orchestra members make no secret of the fact that playing is a great pleasure for them. What happens with this "faculty" is much more than just spending free time--it is already taking on a certain form and soul. Maestro Antanas Ziegoraitis instilled in the Kybartai town orchestra a great sense of duty, responsibility, and patriotism towards one's own land and town. He also fostered attention and respect within the orchestra for the conductor and for older musicians who attend the same classes as colleagues. Together with the maestro, they learn the patterns of music, the sound produced by the instruments, and the harmony of sounds.

The "Sudovian" language, in which the musicians communicate when they meet, along with these big little things, gave momentum to the birth of the orchestra of expatriate musicians, known as "Kybartai Small Orchestra."
