Trachtenmusikkapelle Judendorf-Straßengel The Trachtenmusikkapelle Judendorf-Straßengel is a music association from the north of Graz that has been in existence since 1929. From an initially small group of music-loving locals, the association has grown into a band dressed in beautiful traditional costume with a total of 65 active musicians. The proportion of young people is also growing steadily, with more than half of all members under the age of 30.

Recently, in addition to the construction of one of the most modern music centres in Styria, a great deal of attention has been paid to youth work. The chairman of the Trachtenmusikkapelle, Maximilian H. Tonsern, succeeded in laying the foundations for future-orientated, meaningful youth work by installing an orchestra class in the local primary school and establishing a youth wind orchestra.

In addition to organising well-known regional festivals such as the "Hundsdorfer Straßenfest" and the autumn festival "Zwisch'ndurch Zamm'stehn", the association plays at numerous events in the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel. Musical highlights include the annual open-air concert in the Judendorf-Straßengel park in summer and the Christmas wish concert in December.

The musical repertoire of the Trachtenmusikkapelle is diverse: from hearty marching music to lovely polkas, warming Bohemian pieces as well as lively, traditional Bauerng'stanzel, modern concert literature and new interpretations of famous "classics", the Trachtenmusikkapelle fulfils musical dreams and wishes of all kinds. Performances are not only offered as a full orchestra, there is also the so-called "Hundsdorfer Partie" and other ensembles in addition to a "Weisenbläser Partie". With their musical skills, rounded off by the harmonious overall picture of the beautiful traditional costume, the Trachtenmusikkapelle under the direction of bandmaster Franz Kniepeiss always knows how to inspire!
